The Esedhvos festival this year moves back to a fuller programme, though with a few changes! Thursday 1st September Gorsedh exhibition opens in the Passmore Edwards Institute. This will be open over the weekend and includes work from the Adult and Young People’s Awards. 7pm Awards ceremony. By invitation.
Friday 2nd September A full day of events and presentations showcasing Hayle itself along with major projects such as the National Cornish Music Archive. There will be talks about Hayle, gigs on the river, a Kows ha Koffi for Cornish speakers, and much more. The full programme is being drafted and will be sent separately. 7.30pm. Troyl on the Quay. A marquee on the quay, near ASDA, will house a lively evening of music and dance.
Saturday 4th September 7.30pm. Concert in the school. Performers to be announced.
Sunday 5th September 10am. Blas a Gernewek : Cornish Taster Session based at Penponds School and led by Gwedhen Owr / Golden Tree, who have been working with the school on Cornish. Family friendly event. 11.30am. Heritage Walk, led by John Pollard, Kampyer A’gan Ertach Meet at the swimming pool and end at the Heritage Centre in Foundry Square. A guided walk looking at the development of Hayle from ‘Celtic Saints to Marine Renewables’, visiting key sites and describing the role of the Port of Hayle through the lat three centuries. 3pm. Gorsedh Evensong in Phillack Church.
Stalls There is an opportunity for stalls on the field if anyone wishes to have one. Gorsedh stalls should fit the ethos of the Gorsedh, selling items with a Cornish theme or concerned with Cornish culture. If you would like a stall, here is the form.
