Press release: St Just in Penwith prepares to host the 2019 Esedhvos Festival of Cornish Culture
Welsh National Eisteddfod
The first week of August the Grand Bard and Deputy Grand Bard went to the Welsh National Eisteddfod, which was held this year in Llanrwst in Conwy, N Wales. The Maes was in a big field full of marquees under the beautiful mountains. It was a lovely setting.
On Monday there was the Gorsedd Circle ceremony, where new members were received, and luckily the sun shone. In the afternoon was the crowning ceremony, the poetry prize, in the Pavilion. On Wednesday it was the Prose Medal ceremony, also in the Pavilion.
There was a warm welcome from the Welsh Gorsedd. The Grand Bard and Deputy Grand Bard were also very pleased to meet the delegates from the other Celtic countries.

Breton Open Gorsedd 21st. July 2019
Grand Bard Melennek, Elizabeth Carne went to Brittany for the Open Gorsedh in Brittany. Grand Druid Per-Vari Kerloc’h led the ceremony, near to Brasparts. 2019 is the 120th birthday of the Breton Gorsedh. The ceremony was very good and the Grand Bard was very happy to be there. Gwas Lowenek, Roger Henley, took part in the joining of the sword.

On Tuesday 11th June 2019 Grand Bard Elizabeth Carne, Melennek and a small group of bards gathered for a short private ceremony at the home of the Rev Julyan Drew, who was made a Bard of Gorsedh Kernow. You can find a photo and more details here.
Two members of the International Celtic Congress were made honorary Bards at a special proclamation at the Hotel Bristol in Newquay on Saturday 27th. April 2019. See the gallery of photos and a video

Sat 24th August 12.30pm annual 20 minute service on the same day as Penryn Fair Day. Organised by Gorsedh Kernow, with Penryn Town Council, in memory of the people of Cornwall who have died for their beliefs. All bards are invited to attend (no bardic robes please). Also attending will be members of 'Glasney College', bereaved families and the general public. Meet by the Stone in the Green on the right, by the traffic lights, at the far end of Commercial Road, Penryn. Parking on the wharf opposite is 60p an hour.
