Election of Kannas Bardh Meur (Deputy Grand Bard)

The Bards of Gorsedh Kernow need to elect a new Kannas Bardh Meur (Deputy Grand Bard) for
the next 3-year tenure

In order for an election to take place Gorsedh Kernow asks bards to nominate candidates who
fulfil the criteria below and send the nomination papers to the Returning Officer:

or preferably by e-mail to: membership@gorsedhkernow.org.uk by no later than 31st January 2020

CRITERIA

1 That a Deputy Grand Bard is to be elected to serve for three years from the date of the completion of the term of office of the holder of that Office at that time

2.The Deputy Grand Bard will, under Rule 6(a) of the Constitution, be qualified by his/hercompetence in the Cornish Language.

3 All candidates for election as Deputy Grand Bard must be nominated in writing by two Bards as proposer and seconder and all such nominations, accompanied by the written
consent of the candidate and a short election address, must reach the Returning Officer by 31st January 2020.

4 If there shall be MORE THAN ONE candidate nominated for the Office, the Returning Officer shall inform the College of Bards and an election will follow.

5 If there shall be ONLY ONE candidate nominated for the Office, the Returning Officer shall certify in writing to the Gorsedh Council that such candidate is duly elected,
whereupon the Gorsedh Council shall inform all Bards.

6 If there shall be NO candidate nominated for the Office, then the Gorsedh Council may without ballot of the members elect a qualified Bard to the Office.

It would really help if Bards who have school age children or grandchildren could encourage them to enter and ask them to tell their teachers about the GK Awards. Information about entering can be downloaded from the Gorsedh Kernow website or by email request to awards@gorsedhkernow.org.uk  Please note that entries will no longer be accepted for 2019. Deadline for entries: 31st. March 2020.
