Newquay St. Piran’s Virtual Festival 2021

Newquay, in the heart of the Cornish community, is moving many aspects of its planned 2021 St Piran’s Festival online. The Festival organising committee, with the support of individuals and groups from across Cornwall, are delighted to present a very different festival this year.

Running from Monday 1st March through to Friday 5th March 2021, we have arranged online activities, talks and events with contributions from Newquay and the wider Cornish community. These events will be hosted and premiered on our Facebook page and website and coordinated by the Newquay St Piran’s Festival Group, linking with the Truro St Piran’s Group.

There will be a range of different music, representing the very best of our popular musical styles, together with some introductions to Kernewek including stories for children and a Church Service.  The programme includes Cornish wrestling, cooking demonstrations, Cornish dancing and informative articles about local dialects, heritage, history and horticultural and environmental topics.  The full programme, with timings, will be published on our website with updates and further information on our facebook page later in February.  Details will also be published in the local press later this month.

One tradition that we want to continue is the Trelawny Shout at 9.00pm on Friday 5th March – this will be featured on the website and Facebook page.

If you wish to see some beautiful aerial film and photos of Cornwall, and at the same time listen to excellent Cornish music and tales of Kernow, join us online as we bring you our virtual festival 2021 with links to the wider Cornish celebrations, especially those taking place in Truro.  Let’s all look forward to a more smiley future as we celebrate the fact that we live in this beautiful part of the world.
