Here it is.
Unfortunately, after the newsletter was completed, I learned of the death of our dear friend Chris Dunkerley, a Victorian Life Member, and well known to many of you. Below is a short tribute to Chris.
Vale – Christopher Max Dunkerley – 1950- 2026 – see photo above
The Cornish in Australia and the world wide Cornish diaspora were saddened to hear of the death of Chris Dunkerley on Tuesday 10th February. Chris had been battling cancer for the past few years with such a positive attitude.
Chris was Barded at Poldhu in 1988 and was awarded Weryson An Gannas, the Cornish Gorsedh Ambassador’s trophy, in 2008 for the promotion of Cornwall Overseas and Pewas Map Trevethan -the Paul Smales Medallion, in 2009 for promoting the Celtic Spirit.
Both Chris and his wife Joy were heavily involved in the Celtic Council of Australia and the Glen Innes Festival.
They were regular attendees at all Cornish events around Australia and often overseas events also and were members of NSW, SA and Victorian Associations.
We extend our loving sympathy to Joy, Lowenna, Owen, Kerensa, their spouses and their grand daughters, Penny and Poppy.
Well done you good and faithful servant – you have fought the good fight.
