Gorsedh Kernow is delighted to announce that the Gorsedh Kernow Young People’s Awards scheme for 2023 is now open for entries. Open to children and young people under 18 years, the Awards seek to encourage learning, understanding and promotion of Cornish culture and give expression to the national Celtic spirit of Cornwall. The expression of Cornish identity and culture is the over-arching criterion against which all entries will be judged. A separate adult award scheme is in place for those over 18.
We welcome entries from whole school classes or from individuals in the Cornish language, dance, music, film or theatre, a Cornish study, art and design and creative writing on a Cornish theme in poetry or prose. Gorsedh Kernow is delighted to be working in partnership on the awards this year with Golden Tree Productions and their Go Cornish programme in schools.
Winners will collect their awards at a special ceremony, which is a chance to share and celebrate everyone’s work. The rich variety of entries in past years has been stunning and we look forward to seeing more this year. This is a chance to celebrate your creativity and our wonderful Cornwall. Splann!
More information and the entry form are on the awards page https://gorsedhkernow.org.uk/awards/
The closing date is April 23rd. Winners will be announced late June or early July.
