Launch of Gorsedh Kernow Children’s Awards 2021

Gorsedh Kernow is delighted to announce that it is now open for nominations for the Gorsedh Kernow Children’s awards which are open to children and young people under 18 years.

The Awards seek to encourage learning,  understanding and promotion of Cornish culture and give expression to the national Celtic spirit of Cornwall.  The expression of Cornish identity and culture is the over-arching criterion against which all entries will be judged.

We welcome entries in the Cornish language, dance, music, film or theatre, a Cornish study or art and design from whole school classes or from individuals.  In normal times it might be a teacher who coordinates the entries but with home schooling this might be down to parents or grandparents. In the past one school has given this as a home project which has led to some very creative responses from models of Trevithick’s engine to studies of a particular part of the coast and its flora and fauna.  Maybe some writing, art or even a dance about what Cornwall has meant to you during lockdown?

This is a chance to celebrate your creativity and our wonderful Cornwall.  Splann!
