Eisteddfod Genedlaethol CymruNational Eisteddfod of WalesAfter a very warm welcome from the Archdruid the Cornish Bards were delighted to join the Welsh Procession to the stone circle in the grounds of Tredegar House where many new ovates, bards and druids were initiated in a ceremony on which the Annual Gorseth Kernow Ceremony is based. They were honoured to receive a special welcome from the Archdruid and bidden to rise to warm applause from onlookers. After making the most of an opportunity to explore the craft displays, book stalls and exhibits, the Bards took part in a second ceremony in the afternoon when the award winning poet was named. The group also attended evening concerts in the Grand Pavilion, when Julian LLoyd Webber and Aled Jones were the stars. Before returning to Cornwall a memorable day was spent exploring the ancient Roman Fortress town of Caerleon, where everyone marvelled at the restored section of the baths, the magnificent amphitheatre and the barracks, not forgetting the superb displays in the museum. ![]() All those concerned : John Bennallick, Hazel and Russell Bennett, Bill Glanville, Bill Herring, Godfrey Matthews, Pauline Rowe, Mac Waters, Pat Bawden, Brian Coombes, Keith and Clarinda Truscott, Winifred Heck, Ruth Johns, David Fieldsend, Jill Warden, Koreen Twydell, Percy Harvey, Maureen Pierce, and friends will treasure many happy memories.
